Welcome to Wealden Hall 4 Star Bed & Breakfast
AccommodationWe have two principal bedroom suites; one has a double bed and en suite bathroom. The second is suitable for family occupation as it has two single beds, a sofabed and a futuristic ensuite with bath and extra large shower. The bathrooms are large and fuly equipped with toiletries, shower caps and everything you might need. The bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryers, TV entertainment centres and free WiFi access. Our philosophyWhen we decided to share our home with guests, we thought long and hard about the whole concept. We knew that there were certain aspects which would be critical to the enjoyment of our house, and that some things would be important to people who chose to stay with us. Mostly, it's about the welcome we give our guests, and our endeavour to meet everyone's individual needs. Do you prefer Redbush tea to English Breakfast? Would you prefer real milk to the little cartons of UHT that taste odd and spill over your best suit? Decaffeinated coffee? Nothing is too much trouble to make our guests feel entirely at home. Which is probably why we have just been given a Breakfast Award by VisitBritain. Happy animals mean excellent food
Our chickens run free when we are around to supervise them, and they forage for their own food in addition to the grain that we provide. This is a very natural way for them to live, and this results in eggs which also taste natural. We believe our animals are content and lead a good life. Likewise, we feel that home-made marmalade has the bitterness and tang that you just cannot obtain from purchased items. We make our marmalade from Seville oranges using only natural ingredients so that when you spread some on your toast, you will be re-acquainted with the taste of the real thing. RecyclingWe try to run a green household. All items which can be re-cycled such as bottles and glass, cardboard, plastic and tins are sorted and either collected by the local council or batched in the garage and taken to re-cycling centres. Our pigs are also brilliant at re-cycling, eating vegetable peelings, suitable food scraps and produce from our local shop which has gone past its sell-by date. What the pigs and chickens don't eat goes into the compost heap. Carbon footprintWe have tried to reduce our carbon footprint and our everyday cars have been chosen for maximum fuel efficiency. The same applies to the house; the domestic water and the swimming pool are heated by solar panels, the house is properly insulated, and all the radiators have thermostatically controlled valves. | Contact Us

Wealden Hall is a large, well-appointed modern
establishment situated in Detling village, just 3 miles from
Maidstone, and within easy reach of the M20 motorway and mainline
railway stations.
Food is important to us, so some time
ago we decided to raise our own pigs and keep chickens so that the
food we offer at breakfast would be traditional, humanely produced
and, in our opinion, better quality than commercially produced
items. Meat that comes from home-reared animals tastes better
because the food we give our pigs is natural and there is no
pressure to stimulate unnaturally rapid growth, unlike meat
produced for supermarkets.
